Spider GT Notchback
CaddyIndex™ breakdown — what the agentic research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.
You want a high-MOI mid-mallet with a classical shape and the GT line's longest sightlines, and you putt with a straight-to-slight-arc stroke (single-bend or 30-degree slant).
You want maximum mallet MOI, you prefer a soft insert, or you want the latest release.
Pros
- The highest MOI of any mid-size Spider mallet - very forgiving
- The most classical shape of the GT line with the longest sightlines
- A forward CG that makes face rotation easier than other Spiders
- Single-bend or 30-degree-toe-hang slant hosel options
Cons
- A firmer feel than golfers who want a soft insert may prefer
- A smaller head than the full-size GT Max - less raw MOI
- A 2022 model - behind the latest Spiders on recency
By dimension
Forgiveness
Exceptional for the size - the highest MOI ever created by a mid-size mallet Spider, the notch cut from the back pushing weight to the edges, two 86g dual-tungsten heel-and-toe weights adding stability and forgiveness. Among the most forgiving mid-mallets, though a smaller head than the full-size GT Max.
Distance
A standout - the Pure Roll co-molded insert uses silver aluminium beams at a 45-degree angle to improve topspin across the face, a consistent forward roll. Among the better putters for distance control.
Workability
More workable than most Spiders - the CG is positioned further forward than the other GT putters, making face rotation easier for those with movement in their stroke, a small-slant hosel option creating 30 degrees of toe hang alongside the face-balanced single bend. A high-MOI mid-mallet that still suits a slight arc better than the bigger Spiders.
Feel
Solid and firm - the firmer co-molded insert is black TPU urethane with silver aluminium beams, a positive, responsive strike. A solid, slightly firmer feel than the softer GT Max - the urethane insert gives a connected strike.
Sound
A clean, muted note - the co-molded urethane insert dampens impact, a controlled acoustic. A clean, muted note, a touch firmer than the GT Max.
Looks at address
Among the best - the most classical shape of the GT family, traditional mid-mallet shaping with the longest sightlines of the new Spiders, the notch framing the ball with a clear black alignment line, a stable head you don't notice at address. A clean, traditional look for players who don't want a futuristic profile.
