Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
CaddyCompare (caddycompare.com) is an independent golf equipment price comparison and review aggregation service aimed at UK golfers. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer or retailer.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
2. What data we collect
Browsing CaddyCompare collects minimal data. There are no accounts and no passwords: setting a price alert only requires an email address, listed below.
- Usage data: pages visited, time on site, and referring URL, collected via anonymised server logs and/or analytics tools. Not linked to any individual.
- Contact enquiries: if you email us, we retain your email address and message solely to respond to your enquiry.
- Price-alert data (only if you set alerts): the email address you provide, the products you are watching, your chosen price threshold, the condition you want (new / like-new / used / any), and an audit log of when each alert fired, the retailer involved, and whether the email was sent. We use this to send you the alert emails and to deduplicate sends. We never ask for or store a password.
3. Cookies
We use first-party cookies necessary for the site to function. The only third-party script we load is Google Analytics, and only if you choose “Accept all” on the cookie banner (see section 4). We do not run display advertising or ad-network tracking.
- cookie_consent:records the choice you make on the cookie banner so we don't prompt you again. Local-storage entry, never sent to our servers.
- Session cookies: short-lived cookies used to maintain basic site functionality. Expire when you close your browser.
- Google Analytics cookies (only after “Accept all”): set by Google Analytics (for example
_ga) when its script is loaded, to measure how visitors use the site in aggregate so we can improve it. Not loaded at all under “Essential only”. See section 4 and Google's own privacy policy.
Other affiliate-tracking cookies are not set by us. Affiliate cookies are set by the destination retailer's domain when you click an outbound Buy link. See section 4 for detail.
4. Third parties and sub-processors
We use a small number of third-party services to operate CaddyCompare. Where these services process personal data on our behalf, they act as our sub-processors and are bound by their own terms.
Resend (transactional email)
Resend Inc. (USA) sends our price-alert emails on our behalf from [email protected]. When an alert fires, we hand Resend the recipient address, the email body, and a tracking identifier so we can record delivery status. Resend retains delivery metadata to provide that status. See Resend's Privacy Policy. Resend transfers data to the United States; standard contractual clauses cover this transfer.
eBay Partner Network (affiliate)
Outbound links to eBay listings route via rover.ebay.com, which sets a tracking cookie on your browser to attribute any subsequent purchase back to us. The data shared with eBay when you click such a link includes our publisher identifier, an opaque click reference, your IP address, browser user-agent, and the URL you came from. If you go on to make a purchase, the value and category of that purchase are shared with us in aggregate for commission accounting; we never see your personal eBay account details, payment info, or shipping address.
eBay's use of your data is governed by their User Privacy Notice. You can review and adjust eBay's own cookie choices via their Cookie Notice.
Awin (affiliate)
Outbound Buy links to retailers we partner with through the Awin network route via Awin's tracking domain awin1.com, which sets a cookie on your browser (typically lasting 30 days) to attribute any subsequent purchase back to us. The data shared with Awin when you click such a link includes our publisher identifier, an opaque click reference, your IP address, browser user-agent, and the URL you came from. If you go on to make a purchase, the value and category of that purchase are shared with us in aggregate for commission accounting; we never see your personal account details, payment info, or shipping address.
Awin's use of your data is governed by their Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics (analytics)
Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC, USA) helps us understand how visitors use CaddyCompare. If you choose “Accept all” on our cookie banner, we load the Analytics script from googletagmanager.com, which sets cookies (such as _ga) and collects usage data such as the pages you view, broad device and browser type, and a coarse location derived from your IP address. We use it only to measure site usage in aggregate; we do not use it for advertising and never link it to your CaddyCompare account.
Analytics loads only after you choose “Accept all”; choosing “Essential only” keeps it off entirely. Google's handling of your data is governed by their Privacy Policy. Google may transfer data to the United States under standard contractual clauses.
5. How we use your data
We use the data we collect to:
- Operate and improve the CaddyCompare website
- Understand which features and content are most useful to visitors
- Send the price-alert emails you have specifically asked for, and only those emails (see section 6)
- Respond to contact enquiries
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Transactional emails & unsubscribe
The only emails we send are transactional price-alert notifications: one email when a product you set an alert for drops to or below your chosen threshold. We do not send newsletters, promotional emails, or any marketing communications.
Each alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer, and supports the inbox-level Unsubscribe button surfaced by Gmail, Apple Mail, and similar clients (RFC 8058). Either action pauses the specific alert. You can also edit, pause, or delete any alert at /manage, using the secure link we email you.
To stop all alert emails for your address in one step, use Stop all emails on the manage page (see section 8).
7. Data retention
Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. Contact enquiries are retained for as long as necessary to resolve the matter. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
Price-alert data is retained until you delete it. Using Delete all my data on the manage page removes your email record and everything we hold about you, including every alert and its audit history.
Price alerts are retained until you delete them. Alert event history (a record of each fire-attempt: timestamp, retailer, status) is retained alongside the parent alert and is purged when the alert or the address is deleted.
8. Your rights (UK GDPR)
If you are based in the UK or EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict how we process your data
- Receive a portable copy of your data
To exercise these rights:
- Access / portability: email [email protected] with your request and we'll send a machine-readable (JSON) copy of the data we hold for your address (your email record, every alert you have set, and the fire-history of those alerts) within 30 days.
- Correction:edit an alert's threshold or condition on the manage page. To change the email itself, delete the alerts and re-create them under the new address.
- Deletion: Delete all my data on the manage page removes everything in one action, and per-alert deletion is available there too.
- Email-level unsubscribe: the unsubscribe link in any alert email pauses that alert immediately, and Stop all emails on the manage page suppresses every future email to your address.
For anything that can't be served self-service, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Analytics and affiliate cookie controls. Google Analytics loads only if you choose “Accept all”; choose Essential only to keep it off, and use the Cookie preferenceslink in the footer to change your choice at any time. eBay's own tracking script is never loaded before you click an affiliate link, so you can avoid eBay's affiliate cookies by not clicking the Buy / View on retailer buttons. Browser-level cookie controls and the destination retailer's own cookie preferences page also apply.
If you believe we have mishandled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Third-party content
CaddyCompare aggregates review content from public YouTube channels and golf publications. We link to original content and do not host third-party video or articles. Visiting a linked video or article is subject to that platform's own privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
For any privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us at [email protected].
