RTZ
CaddyIndex™ breakdown: what our research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.
You play off 18 or better, want the softest-feeling, highest-spinning tour wedge with classy looks, and strike it cleanly enough to shape greenside shots - around £150-160.
You need cavity-back forgiveness on mishits - the CBX or CBZ is the more rescuing pick.
Pros
- Among the highest-spinning wedges - ~500 rpm more on short shots and ~800 rpm more on full swings than the RTX 6
- New Z-Alloy steel is 10% softer than the RTX 6 (180 HV vs 225 HV) for a premium feel
- Some of the best-looking wedges out there - ultra-clean, minimalist, compact shape
- Golf Digest 2025 Hot List Gold; four grinds (Low, Mid, Full, Adapt) cover most players
Cons
- Tour-blade forgiveness - a players' shape rather than a cavity-back rescuer
- Best suited to better players who strike it cleanly
- Premium pricing for the category at around £150-160
By dimension
Forgiveness
Strong for a tour blade - ZipCore moves the CG 1.1mm closer to face centre and lifts heel-toe MOI ~1% over the RTX 6, expanding the sweet spot, giving blade looks with cavity-back off-centre performance. More stable than a pure blade, though still a players' shape below the cavity-back CBX.
Distance
Best-in-class spin - about 500 rpm more on short shots and almost 800 rpm more on full swings than the RTX 6, with exceptional wet-condition spin retention, HydraZip and sharper UltiZip grooves delivering stronger, more consistent spin from any lie. Among the highest-spinning wedges available for tight distance control.
Workability
Tour-grade and versatile - the compact blade plus four grinds (Low, Mid, Full, Adapt) blend control and workability, launching mid-to-high as standard but as high as forgiving wedges when needed, the new Adapt grind adding open-faced finesse shotmaking. A genuine shotmaker's wedge.
Feel
Best-in-class - the new Z-Alloy steel is 10% softer than the RTX 6 (180 HV vs 225 HV), with the ball feeling like it stays on the face longer for a soft but not mushy sensation, a soft, responsive contact on chips and full swings. Among the softest, most refined wedge feels on the market.
Sound
A soft, controlled note - a concise clock between a high-pitched click and a low-pitched tock, softer, deeper and more controlled than harsh wedges. A clean, premium impact note in tune with the soft feel.
Looks at address
Best-in-class - some of the best-looking wedges, with an ultra-clean, minimalist profile, the compact, rounded traditional shape looking superb behind the ball. A premium, classic tour look across Tour Satin, Black Satin and raw finishes.
