RTX Full-Face 2
CaddyIndex™ breakdown: what our research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.
You want a high-spinning, forgiving full-face wedge for confident open-face greenside shots and bunkers, and don't mind a firm feel - around £140-160.
You prioritise tight full-swing distance control or the softest feel - the RTX 6 ZipCore is the more consistent, plusher pick.
Pros
- 2nd in MyGolfSpy 2024 spin scoring - around 10,000 rpm from 100 yards, with extra bite in the wet
- Considerably more forgiving than a typical RTX - 96% more ZipCore lifts MOI 13% over the original Full-Face
- High-toe, full-face grooves make it a versatile open-face shotmaker around the greens
- A wide sole makes it especially easy out of bunkers
Cons
- Mid-pack accuracy and consistency - loose full-swing carry dispersion relative to the field
- Firm feel and sound - improved but still not as soft as the plushest wedges
- Effectively two sole shapes (S and C) - less grind choice than some rivals
By dimension
Forgiveness
Best-in-class for a players' wedge - ZipCore pushes the CG toward the centre of the face, making it considerably more forgiving and surprisingly so for a model usually geared to better players, with 96% more ZipCore than the original Full-Face for a 13% higher MOI. Among the most forgiving full-face wedges, helped further by the wide sole.
Distance
Elite spin, looser distance control - ranked 2nd in the 2024 spin scoring category and spinning more in wet conditions than dry, with roughly 10,000 rpm from 100 yards and 500-800 rpm more than the previous Full-Face. The trade-off: accuracy and consistency ranked mid-pack, so carry dispersion is looser than the best full-swing wedges.
Workability
A genuine shotmaker's wedge - the high-toe, full-face design with grooves to the toe lets players open the face and swing freely for aggressive greenside shots, the subtle high toe and 34% more contact area than the RTX 6 adding open-face spin. Among the most versatile greenside wedges for manipulating the face.
Feel
Firm but improved - the extra ZipCore improves feel over the original Full-Face while still delivering a firm sensation at impact, a firm, solid contact. Better than the firm 2021 model but still a step behind the softest cavity-back wedges.
Sound
A firm, low click - well-struck pitches produce a firm, loud-yet-deep click that signals a spinning strike, a crisp, firm impact note. A satisfying but firm acoustic, in line with the RTX line.
Looks at address
Clean and classic - the high-toe design is subtle rather than slab-like, keeping a traditional shape, with a tidy full-face profile and tour finishes. A restrained, classic tour look that hides its full-face tech.
