Spider EX
CaddyIndex™ breakdown — what the agentic research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.
You putt with a straight stroke and want a high-MOI Spider mallet with maximum forgiveness, a soft grooved insert and strong alignment, without an oversized head.
You putt with an arc (choose a slant/flow neck), you want a compact shape, or you want the latest release.
Pros
- A high-MOI mallet with maximum forgiveness - not excessively large
- Tungsten toe-and-heel and steel back-wing weighting for stability
- A soft Pure Roll 2 insert with eight grooves for feel and roll
- True Path alignment in true-line or three-dot options
Cons
- The single-bend is face-balanced - built for a straight stroke
- A 2021 model - behind the latest Spiders on recency
- A larger mallet head than a blade
By dimension
Forgiveness
Exceptional - a high-MOI mallet offering maximum forgiveness, with a lightweight aluminium body, 56g of steel in two back wings and 20-30g of tungsten in the toe and heel extremities, a perimeter-weighted high-MOI build. Among the most forgiving mallets - a multi-material high-MOI head.
Distance
A standout - the Pure Roll 2 insert has eight 45-degree co-moulded grooves to increase feel and roll versus a solid face, a consistent roll. Among the better putters for distance control.
Workability
A face-balanced mallet - a single-bend shaft for a face-balanced, straight-stroke profile (slant and flow-neck options add toe flow). Very limited arc-fit - the single-bend is built for a straight stroke.
Feel
Soft and consistent - the Pure Roll 2 insert provides a soft feel, the co-moulded grooves giving a soft, responsive strike. Among the better putter feels - a soft, grooved insert (softer than the firmer Surlyn Spiders).
Sound
A soft, muted note - the Pure Roll 2 insert gives a soft impact, a dampened acoustic. A clean, muted note.
Looks at address
Clean, with strong alignment - the high-MOI mallet isn't excessively large and uses the True Path alignment scheme (true-line or three-dot), a clean, alignment-friendly setup. Among the cleaner high-MOI mallets.
