Phantom X 7
CaddyIndex™ breakdown — what the agentic research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.
You putt with a straight stroke and want a large, high-MOI mallet with excellent forgiveness and class-leading combination alignment.
You putt with an arc (choose the straight-neck option), you want a compact shape (look to the X 5), or you want the softest current feel.
Pros
- A large, high-MOI modern mallet - very good forgiveness
- Small mishits hold their line, larger mishits resist twisting
- Combination alignment - black-and-white sight lines back to the ball
- Multiple hosel options for different head balances
Cons
- A firm aluminium-face feel - firmer than the milled-stainless models
- The standard mid-bend is face-balanced - built for a straight stroke
- A 2021 milled face - pre the softer dual-milled and Studio Carbon Steel tech
By dimension
Forgiveness
Exceptional - very good forgiveness, with small mishits holding their line and larger mishits showing face resistance to twisting, a large, high-MOI modern mallet. Among the more forgiving premium mallets - a large high-MOI head.
Distance
A standout - the milled aluminium face and high-MOI head give a consistent roll and pace, the stable head delivering distance control. Among the better putters for distance control.
Workability
A face-balanced mallet - the standard mid-bend hosel creates a virtually neutral, face-balanced putter (a straight-neck option adds slight toe hang), a face-balanced fit for a straight stroke. Very limited arc-fit - built for a straight stroke.
Feel
Firm and solid - the solid 6061 aluminium face gives a firm, solid feel, a stable, solid strike. A solid feel, firmer than the milled-stainless Phantom X models.
Sound
A muted, solid note - the aluminium face gives a muted, solid impact, a clean acoustic. A clean, muted note.
Looks at address
Clean and modern - the large, modern mallet shape with a black aluminium face, combination alignment of black-and-white sight lines extending from the back to the ball. Among the cleaner large mallets.
