Best for

You want a zero-torque putter that holds the face square for tiny dispersion clusters and you value accuracy over feel.

Avoid if

You want a soft, feedback-rich feel, you putt with an arc, or you want a classic shape at a lower price.

Pros

  • PXG's first zero-torque putter - won't open or close relative to path
  • Most testers saw a statistical improvement, putts in tiny clusters
  • Alignment features testers enjoyed
  • Did the zero-torque thing really well - one reviewer shot a lifetime-low round

Cons

  • A muted, uninspiring feel - the main trade-off of the design
  • Tough to know if you missed the centre - little feedback
  • A premium price and a functional rather than classic look

Forgiveness

Exceptional - the zero-torque Allan will not open or close relative to path, making it easier to return the putter square, with most testers seeing a statistical improvement and putts ending in tiny clusters, the torque-free design keeping the face on line. Among the most forgiving putters - a zero-torque head.

50

Workability

Zero-torque by design - the Allan's face is vertical, with the CG placed under the shaft axis to generate no torque, so the head will not open or close during the stroke, built to resist manipulation rather than shape putts. Minimal shot-shaping - intentionally non-manipulable by design.

72

Feel

A weak point - the impact feel is muted and it is tough to know if you missed the centre, the feel and feedback not emotionally fulfilling and the feel off the face not a favourite. Below-average feel - muted and uninspiring, the main trade-off of the zero-torque design.
