Best for

You fight a slice and have a slower swing - this is Ping's most playable, most forgiving draw-biased driver, in an easy-launching lightweight build with adjustable Draw and Draw+ settings.

Avoid if

You already draw the ball, want to work it both ways, or swing fast - the neutral G440 Max suits shapers, and faster slicers can take the standard-weight SFT.

Pros

  • Ping's most playable slice-corrector yet - the draw bias is up 15-20% over the G430 SFT, with Draw and Draw+ backweight settings worth 13-20 yards of correction
  • Extremely forgiving on the G440 platform - a deep, low CG and thinner, hotter face keep the ball on line and fast even off-centre
  • A lightweight high-launch (HL) build for slower swings - a 46-inch ultralight shaft adds ball speed and ~9 yards
  • A new Carbonfly carbon crown and added 9-degree loft option, with marginal gains in distance, forgiveness, sound and feel over the G430 SFT

Cons

  • A built-in, and now stronger, draw bias - faders and shapers should look elsewhere
  • A high-launch, lightweight head for slower swings - faster players and windy days aren't its strength

Forgiveness

Excellent

Extremely forgiving - a small but noticeable improvement in off-centre performance over the G430 SFT, particularly low on the face, with a deep, low CG that keeps the ball on track even on poor swings and a thinner, shallower face that holds ball speed on and off centre. One of the most forgiving drivers on the market - the lightweight HL build gives back a little, but it remains elite for the type.
