Best for

You're a 5-25 HCP at 80-110mph who wants Ping's signature shot-to-shot consistency from a forgiving, high-launching hybrid — comfortable with a modest acoustic and looking for a depreciated 2020-vintage entry into the Ping G hybrid family.

Avoid if

You want a class-leading acoustic, you need shape-shifting workability, or you want current-generation Ping tech from the G430 or G440 lines.

Pros

  • Pulls together an array of performance characteristics that is uncommon, maybe unprecedented — tremendous forgiveness with great distance and a strong ball flight
  • First Ping hybrid with an adjustable hosel — Trajectory Tuning 2.0 with ±1.5° loft, 8 settings, 3° flat-lie range
  • Maraging C300 steel face on 17-4 stainless head + tungsten back weight + 6.5% larger profile vs G400 — 134.3mph ball speed on 19°
  • Golf Monthly Editors Choice 2020 award

Cons

  • Sound is modest — not class-leading acoustic
  • Larger GI profile + deep tungsten CG produce a straight high-launch flight, not shape-shifting
  • 5 years old (2020 release) — superseded by G425, G430, G440 generations
  • No movable weight system — adjustability limited to hosel + the broader 5-loft ladder

Forgiveness

Strong

The G410 hybrid pulls together an array of performance characteristics that is uncommon, maybe unprecedented — combining tremendous forgiveness with great distance and a strong ball flight. Thanks to a bigger head and a tungsten back weight, the MOI of the G410 is 6.5% higher than the G400, which translated to shot after shot carrying nearly the exact same distance. 17-4 stainless steel head is 6.5% bigger than the G400 hybrid, with high-density tungsten weight placed deep in the sole to expand perimeter weighting and optimize MOI. Above-average forgiveness — 6.5% larger profile + 6.5% higher MOI + tungsten back weight produce shot-to-shot consistency.

76

Distance

Strong

Independent testing: 134.3mph average ball speed and 13.3° launch on the 19° 3-hybrid. Maraging C300 steel face attached to 17-4 stainless steel head increases ball speed — first Ping hybrid with C300 face. Great distance and a strong ball flight. Launches a bit higher, but because ball speed is also increased, distance isn't compromised. Above-average distance — 134.3mph 19° ball speed + C300 maraging face + higher launch without distance loss.

64

Workability

Fair

Larger profile head by 6.5% than predecessor. Tungsten back weight + deep CG = high-launch GI profile. Emphasis on tremendous forgiveness and shot-to-shot consistency — no shape-shifting language. Below-average workability — GI larger footprint + deep-sole tungsten CG produce a straight, consistent flight with limited shape control.

Looks at address

Excellent

The matte black crown has no alignment aids except the Turbulators. The combination of the painted grooves and Turbulators frames the ball perfectly, giving confidence in set up. Larger head size gives you a bit more confidence vs G400. One of the best looking and performing hybrids available. Above-average address — matte black crown + Turbulators alignment cues + 6.5% larger footprint inspire confidence.
