CaddyIndex™ breakdown — what the agentic research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.

Best for

You're a mid-to-high HCP (10-28) at 75-105mph who wants the most accurate and most forgiving fairway wood in 2025 — comfortable with a draw bias and the larger 200cc footprint.

Avoid if

You're a scratch player who needs neutral CG and shape-shifting flexibility, you want the standard Qi35's distance crown, or you can't tolerate a draw bias and a high-pitched sound profile.

Pros

  • Robot testing: #1 most accurate fairway wood of 2025 (9.0 accuracy score) and #3 most forgiving (9.2 forgiveness score), overall 8.7/10
  • Reviewer testing: remarkably easy to hit, with strong ball speed and excellent speed retention across the face
  • Doubled hosel adjustability vs prior generation: 4° loft sleeve on 3 and 5-woods (7/9 are bonded)
  • Golf Digest 2025 Hot List Gold Medal — industry-validated playability

Cons

  • 1-2 mph less ball speed and ~7yd less carry / 10-12yd less total than the standard distance-king sibling — forgiveness trade
  • Moderate draw bias that definitely favors a draw over a fade — not for fade-shapers or scratch players who want neutral CG
  • Acoustics on the louder side with a polarizing high-pitched profile — some will love it, others won't
  • 7-wood and 9-wood are bonded heads — no hosel adjustability on those two SKUs (3 and 5 get the 4° loft sleeve)

By dimension

90

Forgiveness

Robot testing: ranked as the most accurate fairway wood of 2025, earning an overall score of 8.7/10 with standout marks in accuracy (9.0) and forgiveness (9.2). Also the third most forgiving fairway wood tested. This combination of performance places it among the most playable fairway woods in the test. Reviewer testing: remarkably easy to hit, with strong ball speed and excellent speed retention across the face, where virtually every ball launches into the air. 200cc head with TSS rear weight produces the most forgiving fairway in the lineup. Top-tier 2025 forgiveness — independent robot-test #1 for accuracy, #3 for forgiveness.

84

Distance

Reviewer testing: compared to the standard Qi35, the Max produces slightly less ball speed (by around 1-2 mph on average) and about seven yards less carry and 10-12 yards less total distance. However: strong ball speed and excellent speed retention across the face. Manufacturer: the larger head size allows for the CG to be lowered and pulled further back in the head to create more MOI, easier launch and ultimately more forgiveness. Above-average distance — strong absolute speed despite the modest gap to the distance-king standard sibling.

72

Workability

Reviewer testing: the head has a moderate draw bias that definitely favors a draw over a fade. Reviewer testing: large head, sprawling, fuller footprint in heel and toe — high MOI architecture resists intentional shape-shifting. The 4° loft sleeve does add modest face-angle bias tuning. Below-average workability — by design, this is the max-forgiveness fairway with a draw bias, not the shape-shifter. Slight uplift over the prior generation thanks to the doubled hosel range.

80

Feel

Industry awards coverage: the acoustics are on the louder side but it feels so soft like hitting a marshmallow. Reviewer testing: the feel and acoustics are comparable to the standard sibling, featuring the muted thud like sound synonymous with the brand's fairway woods, although the Max model didn't feel quite as heavy in the hit as the core and tour siblings. Above-average feel — soft tactile signature carried over from the well-reviewed standard sibling.

76

Sound

Reviewer testing: featuring the muted thud like sound synonymous with the brand's fairway woods. However, industry awards coverage notes mixed reception: the acoustics are on the louder side and described as a lively, bouncy sound — the head has a sound of drivers from yesteryear, with a high pitch coming off the face. Above-average mid-tier acoustic — the carbon-crown muted thud is positive but the higher pitch makes it polarizing.

78

Looks at address

Reviewer testing: has a matte grey carbon fiber crown, and is a bit larger from front to back and heel to toe compared to the standard sibling, with a sprawling, fuller footprint in heel and toe. Industry coverage: large confidence-inspiring 200cc footprint with the new carbon crown. Above-average address profile — premium new carbon-fiber finish on the largest footprint in the line for confidence-inspired golfers.
