Where it wins
- Forgiveness85
- Distance84
- Feel84
Watch
Rated highest for forgiveness and distance; its softest dimension is workability.
You want the look of a blade but your stroke runs straight back and through.
Your stroke arcs, or a head this wide sitting behind the ball puts you off.
Pros
- Blade cues with stability that matches most mallets
- The face-balanced build finally suits straight-stroke players who wanted a blade
- Extra width holds ball speed on strikes the narrow blades punish
- Two 25g weights in three materials set head feel
Cons
- No toe hang at all, so an arcing stroke has nothing to work with
- The head is very wide, and the sharp two-tone finish will not be to every taste
By dimension
Forgiveness
ExcellentThe widest head in the line paired with corner tungsten makes this the steadiest blade Odyssey has built.
Distance
ExcellentForward weight starts the roll early and the extra width keeps ball speed up on a poor strike.
Workability
ModestFace-balanced on a double bend neck, so the head resists turning and shaping is simply not on offer.
Feel
ExcellentSoft enough off the White Hot insert, though the large hollow body dilutes what reaches your hands.
Sound
ExcellentA muted, slightly empty knock, the same acoustic compromise the rest of the insert blades make.
Looks at address
ExcellentBlade cues on a head almost twice the usual width, and the two-tone split is stark for some eyes.
