Best for

A 0-12 HCP at 90-115mph who wants AI face-tech ball speed in a compact, low-offset shape with soft centered feel — and doesn't need maximum mishit protection.

Avoid if

You need GI/SGI forgiveness, you want maximum strong-loft distance (use Mavrik standard), or you demand a pure forged-quiet players-iron acoustic (use Apex MB).

Pros

  • Soft centered impact with informative mishit firm-up — best feel in the Mavrik line
  • Thinner topline + flatter lies + more compact head — explicit shotmaker geometry
  • AI-designed Flash Face Cup ball speed packaged in a players-distance head
  • 2020 Golf Digest Hot List Gold Winner (Players-Distance) + 5-star Innovation across the MAVRIK line

Cons

  • Not quite as forgiving as Mavrik or Mavrik Max — compact head trades mishit protection
  • Good but not outrageous ball speed — gives up distance to the stronger-lofted Mavrik standard
  • A touch louder than purist players-iron acoustic — not pure forged-quiet
  • Now 5 years old — superseded by Apex 21 → Apex Pro 24 in the Callaway players-distance lineage

Forgiveness

Fair

Pro irons are not quite as forgiving as the Mavrik and Mavrik Max, but offer better workability, better looks and more feel. Impressive forgiveness and consistency for their compact size. If you struggle with consistent contact, the Mavrik Pros don't offer much forgiveness, but the feel of off-center strikes remains true. Same AI Flash Face Cup architecture as standard Mavrik, with 360 face cup + Tungsten Energy Core + urethane microspheres preserving face-tech MOI in a compact head. Above-average for the players-distance category — meaningful forgiveness compressed into a compact frame via AI face tech, but a clear step below SGI/GI Mavrik siblings.

77

Distance

Strong

Incredibly fast ball speeds from the AI-designed Flash Face Cup for long, consistent distance. Good but not outrageous ball speed with a fairly low spin profile producing straighter shots. Trajectory similar to the Standard, if not a touch lower and more penetrating. 7-iron loft 30.5° — most traditional loft of the Mavrik line (vs Standard 27° and Max 30°). 10-12 yard gap between consecutive irons for full-bag spacing. Above-average distance for players-distance category — AI Flash Face Cup ball speed in a compact head; loses ground to the stronger-lofted Standard but holds its own among players-distance peers.

75

Workability

Strong

Designed to suit better players, with a thinner topline, flatter lie angles (to reduce the left miss) and a more compact head. Least amount of offset, thinnest topline and flattest lie angles of the three models in the Mavrik line. For better golfers who want a more compact clubface with a players iron appearance — better workability, better looks and more feel than the standard. Fairly low spin produces straighter shots, so ball-flight shaping requires intent. Above-average workability — explicit shotmaker design with flat lies + minimal offset + compact head; clearly more workable than standard, stopping short of pure muscleback/CB workability due to game-improvement face tech.

86

Feel

Excellent

On center, the MAVRIK Pro feels very soft, with that feel firming up noticeably when you miss the center. Urethane microspheres keep the misses from stinging or feeling harsh. An element of explosiveness, compression, solidness, and also softness that you would expect from a players iron. Feel great during testing, with a noise like that of a forged iron that was quiet and solid. Top-tier feel — soft centered impact with informative firm-up on mishits, no harsh sting, players-iron compression sensation. Best feel in the Mavrik line.

80

Sound

Strong

A little louder than most players irons, but not problematically loud — no one will confuse them for a distance iron. Noise like that of a forged iron that was quiet and solid. Sound remains relatively light, even at impact, due to the slender build. Precisely positioned contact points keep vibration frequency low to give the irons a powerful muted sound. Above-average sound — forged-like quiet/solid acoustic, slightly louder than ideal players iron but well-tuned via urethane damping. Best sound in the Mavrik line.

86

Looks at address

Excellent

Thinner topline, flatter lie angles, and a more compact head. Lighter satin chrome finish and players' profile behind the ball. Least amount of offset, thinnest topline of the three Mavrik models. Compact head, thinner topline, and minimal offset compared to standard versions. Players iron appearance. Top-tier address looks for the Mavrik line — compact, satin chrome, minimal offset, thin topline. Premier players-distance look.
