Jaws Raw
CaddyIndex™ breakdown: what our research found across each of the six performance dimensions, with cited sources.
You're a better player who wants maximum greenside spin and predictable distance control from a raw-faced tour wedge, with a deep grind range including a low-bounce anti-dig option.
You want maximum forgiveness, a finish that won't rust, or a larger cavity-back shape.
Pros
- The most aggressive grooves Callaway has made plus a raw face - elite spin
- First-ever tungsten centres the CG for control and feel
- Six grinds across two shapes, including a new anti-dig Z-grind
- Excellent, predictable distance control
Cons
- A player's tour shape - less forgiving than a cavity-back wedge
- The raw face rusts over time, which some players dislike
- Rewards a clean strike from a better player
By dimension
Forgiveness
Reasonable for a tour wedge - tungsten is in a Callaway wedge for the first time, on the sand and lob wedges, to centre the CG for control and feel, though the head remains a player's tour shape rather than a cavity-back. The centred CG adds a little stability, but it is still a tour wedge that rewards a clean strike.
Distance
A standout - the most aggressive grooves Callaway has made and the raw face give excellent, predictable distance control (it stops quickly on full swings and chips run out predictably), the raw face giving direct contact and spin. Among the better wedges for distance control.
Workability
Highly workable - six grind options across two shapes, including an all-new low-bounce Z-grind with a chamfered leading edge to reduce digging, plus S, C, wide-sole W and high-bounce X grinds, in 28 loft/bounce combinations. Among the more workable wedges - a tour line-up with elite grind options.
Feel
Soft and refined - exceptional sound and feel, with the raw face allowing more direct contact, the first-ever tungsten giving a centred, refined feel. Among the better wedge feels - a soft, direct tour feel.
Sound
A clean, crisp note - exceptional sound from the raw face's direct contact, a crisp, satisfying acoustic. Among the better wedge sounds - a clean, crisp note.
Looks at address
Among the best - the raw face (offered in Raw Face Chrome and Black Plasma) on a clean tour shape, a premium tour-blade look. Among the cleaner tour wedges - a striking raw, low-glare face.
